【Brief Introduction】 Hubei University of Arts and Science is located in Xiangyang City, a famous historical and cultural city in China and the deputy central city of Hubei Province. It is also located in Gulongzhong, the former residence of Zhuge Liang, the embodiment of Chinese wisdom. The earliest history of the university can be traced back to Xiangyang Normal College, founded in May 1958. From 1966 to 1978, Xiangyang Branch of Wuhan University was established here. In March 1998, Xiangyang Normal College, Xiangfan Vocational University and Xiangfan Education College were merged to form Xiangfan College. In July 2000, Hubei Arts and Crafts university was integrated. In February 2012, it was renamed Hubei University of Arts and Science. The university is a master's degree-granting unit, jointly built by the central and local governments.It is an outstanding university assessed by the Ministry of Education for undergraduate teaching, a national advanced collective for graduates' employment in regular colleges and universities, and a national model collective for ethnic unity and progress.

【Talent Cultivation】 The university offers 60 undergraduate programmes, covering 9 disciplines - economics, Law, education, literature, Science, engineering, medicine, management, and art. There are more than 20,000 full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students. We have 4 national level first-class undergraduate programs, including Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Physics, Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation, 2 national level characteristic programmes, and 1 national level comprehensive reform pilot programmes. There are 19 provincial-level first-class undergraduate programmes and 4 provincial-level brand programmes. There are 66 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses, 12 provincial-level teaching teams and 13 provincial-level excellent grassroots teaching organizations, 20 "undergraduate teaching engineering" projects of provincial specialty comprehensive reform pilot; provincial quality online open courses 11. We also have 5 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching center and 7 provincial virtual simulation experimental projects. The University has continued to deepen the reform of talent training, and has increasingly highlighted the characteristics of talent collaborative training featuring deep integration of university and enterprise (local), organic integration of science and education, and full staff cooperation. It has won the first prize of Outstanding Teaching Achievements in Hubei Province for many times. The university has a distinctive feature of adult education and innovation and entrepreneurship education, and has won more than 1,200 awards in provincial and above discipline competitions annually.

【Research】 The university has 3 first-level discipline master's degree awarding units, Chinese Language and Literature, Mathematics and Geography respectively, and 14 master's degree programs in Social Work, Journalism and Communication, Mechanics, Education, Materials and Chemical Engineering, Electronic Information, Transportation, Biology and Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Tourism Management, Art, Civil Engineering and Water Resources, Nursing, and Physical Education respectively. It has 3 provincial-level characteristic subject groups and 5 provincial-level key disciplines. There are 38 provincial-level key laboratories, collaborative innovation centers, humanities and social sciences research bases, engineering and technology research centers, 13 high-level scientific and technological innovation teams, 5 provincial-level graduate workstations, and 1 provincial-level graduate education innovation base. The affiliated hospital (Xiangyang Central Hospital), as a provincial regional medical center, has strongly supported the rapid development of medical discipline, and its clinical medicine and Engineering discipline have entered the top 1% of ESI ranking in the world. In recent years, the university has won 136 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and Social Science Foundation, 531 projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, and 100 awards for scientific research achievements at the provincial and ministerial levels. Annual research funding has exceeded 142 million yuan. The number of authorized patents ranks among the top ten universities in the province.

【Teaching Staff】 The university has 18 secondary schools, with 1669 staff and 1180 full-time teachers, including 198 professors, 443 associate professors. 461 teachers has obtained doctor's degree and 596 teachers has obtained master's degree. There are more than 30 high-level talents at national and provincial levels. Full-time and part-time postgraduate programmes supervisors add up to 690 and many of them from Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Huazhong Normal University, Hubei University, Wuhan University of Science and Technology. We have introduced more than 20 Longzhong Scholars and distinguished professors. There are a group of young and middle-aged experts enjoying the special allowance of The State Council and provincial government.

With the motto of "Indifferent and enlightened, tranquil and industrious", the university vigorously carries forward the "Longzhong Spirit" and the fine tradition of "Daring to be the first and willing to contribute". We will further promote the construction of civilized, scholarly, scientific, artistic, and sports campuses. "Go to college where Zhuge Liang studies", "Read like Zhuge Liang", "the new generation of Wolong out of the mountain" inspires young students to study, explore and grow up.
